Stop Development of Luxury Townhomes in Westchester

Our mission is to protect the Wolf Road Prairie, its globally significant oak savanna, and the hundreds of species of native flora and fauna that still call this small area of Illinois home by opposing the construction of luxury townhomes in Westchester. A developer has presented plans to the Village to turn 15 acres adjacent to the prairie into a gated community. This land is too valuable a buffer to the prairie to be developed.
"The importance of maintaining adequate buffer for Wolf Road Prairie has been recognized by the Illinois Nature Preserves Commission, Illinois Department of Natural Resources, Forest Preserve District of Cook County, and Save The Prairie Society. The communities present in Wolf Road Prairie and the associated neighboring lands are a complex assemblage of living things co-existing in communities, and it is more important to examine these systems from the viewpoint of biodiversity."
