Hi, I wanted to draw your attention to this important petition that I have initiated and drawn up, to help speed up the passing of the Industrial Property Bill in Uganda which is intended to protect among others, industrial design creators, innovators and inventors; against such impertinent practices as design piracy. Design Piracy describes the practice of enterprises that seek to profit from the invention of others by producing copies of original designs under a different label. These duplicate versions then have the potential to flood the market and devalue the original by their ubiquity, poor quality, or speed at which they reach the consumer. 'All designers deserve the right to design protection and only the creator of an original design should profit from that design. 'Taking someone’s work and calling it your own is wrong and robs the designer of a rightful return of their investment.' Steven Kolb, CEO of the CFDA I really think this is an important cause, and I'd like to encourage you to add your signature, too. It's free and takes just a few seconds of your time. The final petition will be presented to the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda after collecting enough signatures. Thanks! Victoria Senkubuge Byoma.
