Stop cuts to supported childcare
Funding cuts to supported child care is negatively impacting some of our most vulnerable children. It is crucial for children with special needs to receive consistent five day a week support to be successful in an early childhood education program. Two days a week for a three year old and three days a week for a four year old means that when a child is not receiving support they will have to function as a trypical child would which puts added stress on the child. As teachers we often are not able to flag a child that may have require diagnosis or additional support until a few weeks of thorough observation and meetings with administrators, specialists, and families. At this point supported child care has informed schools that have reached their budget and will not be able to accept any more children into their program. This means that many children and families in need will receive zero support this school year. Please sign this petition to inform....that it is imperative that we reinstate funding for our children with special needs so that we can continue to offer a successful and inclusive program.
