How about Burnhill Green in Shropshire, crown estates given green belt housing development permission for affordable housing (rent only) eight years ago, now tennants evicted and houses put on the market at top prices.

Hi everyone - a warning for all ASSURED CE tenancy holders. Crown Estate are now moving to sell off your home to corporate residential companies. Fifty homes including my own have been sold by Crown Estate to Dorrington Plc (also called Dorrington Residential Ltd). This back door deal has been done without any consideration to the tenant, no warning just a letter, in my case a visit. Assured tenants are essentially sold along with the property to new landlords. No matter what damage and upset the Crown cause to tenants they intend to sell off all of their residential portfolio both shorthand and assured. Beware the monstrous Crown Estate - money money money - greed greed greed!

Dear Joanne, it is heart breaking to hear of your plight. CE hide behind the AST. This one-sided anti-tenant document gives CE the lawful right to act in this inhuman way. Somehow they can justify ruining peoples lives using the AST. All tenants are asking for is to be left in peace in the home they love. CE has no compassion. It is within their power to annul eviction notices and let those who want to stay - STAY! Its a simple act of mercy towards those who are unable to get a mortgage. We are a family of 3 with 4 small dogs, 2 of which are 10 & 12. We were led to believe we had a home for life when we took on the tenancy 10 years ago. The house is in poor condition and we took in on in a terrible state but we love it here and have been very happy. We have been given 6 months notice and are absolutely heart broken. We have been told we can buy but we cant raise the kind of money needed for a deposit and probably would struggle to get a mortgage because of our age....nearly 50! We cant find any landlord whom will take us on because we have pets, we cant bear to part with our dogs it would be like loosing a member of the family.  Is there any help out there to get a mortgage or is there any rich person out there who takes pity on us and could help? Please......we are desperate.

Thank you for your comment. May I ask have you actually read the petition? You say “I do not see an issue” ? Really?? Have you perhaps sat and pondered candidly the plight of the 199 honest, hard working tenants that through no fault of their own are being forced to leave their homes? How would you feel if your 80 year old Grandad was being evicted from his home? How about the mother who has a disabled daughter. The daughter is settled in her home, happy and content. The mother has all the equipment in place to care for her child. Then along comes a bully-boy landlord who says to himself “if I sell this property I’ll make more than renting it to this mother and daughter” - Avarice takes hold, this greed is then justified by legalism, hence the bully-boy feels quite within his rights to say to the Mother and daughter - “get out” !! Is that what you call “not an issue” Money and profit over people? By the way these are REAL life situations which CE refuse to address, Why? Pure unadulterated avarice. Do you not think that such a powerful organisation as CE has a moral responsibility? Would you say that those tenants whom were given verbal assurance of long term tenancy have been tricked? If you are a legalist and think in terms of “law” then you are quite correct in your assessment. However this is not about bricks and mortar or commodities this is about messing with peoples lives. Do you think CE are hard up? With a 8.1 billion portfolio and a profit of 250 million last year do you not think they are in a financial position to show some mercy and charity towards those families who simply cannot move? Do you think they should show mercy and compassion or think of the money? Oh and please don’t get fooled by the CE myth buster page, CE DOES answer to Parliament for its actions. sorry but, it is her estates. She is legally allowed the income. However, this is not up to her, the Queen has no say over this. I am sorry why should you be reimbursed , you do not own the house you live in you rent it. You save or you borrow money, like everyone else would have to do. TBH i do not see parilement stopping it, they cannot wade in on this. So you have spent money on the place you live, so have we. iF WE cannot pay the morage we loose the house, it makes no difference.

Just a quick point, they do not have to listen to public opinion, nor does the Crown Estate sponsored by the government. You do not own the houses they do. If they have not broken the law, I do not see an issue. Although they should provide support and help for the families effected.
