Brisbane City Council are asking us to vacate by the end of January 18 due to unlawful use of light industrial zoned property we are located at.

There has been personal training studio/small gyms operating from the 2 buildings on the property and also closely neighbouring light industrial zoned properties for over 10 years without any problem, until complaint was recently made. There are many other personal training studios, gyms, crossfit boxes and yoga studios (approximately 20 that we know of) operating from light industrial zoning in the Brisbane City Council region without the required development permit (Indoor Sport and Recreation). This permit can cost any where from $15,000-$40,000 (depending on the size of the premises) and there is no guarantee that will you granted it.

Having to relocate so soon would have a huge impact on our community of clients, the business and also myself in a number of ways including financially, emotionally, physically, personally. Trying to find property correctly zoned in Centre or Mixed Use that is deemed of adequate size, location, appropriate for long term use and without a rental amount that isn't through the roof, is nearly impossible to find!

As a country we are experiencing a obesity crisis, as personal trainers/coaches we are trying to combat this through educating and helping people to adapt and live a healthier lifestyle. By asking many fitness businesses to relocate or even worse close down, would have a negative impact on the problem which we are trying to fix!

Help us to fight this by signing our petition!

Employers are being encouraged to support their employees, particularly office workers, to exercise regularly. This gym has before and after work classes to accomodate locals from Samford to attend a 60 min class without taking away too much family time. The council should be supporting this little gym, not trying to close it down.

BCC help young motivated people help others. Takes a lot of self sacrifice to setup & run a gym, dance studio or whatever. Sounds like BCC haven't even consulted the Business owners.

This is more than just the removal and relocation of a business, but the disruption to a community, if a democratically elected council actually cared and/or understood about the very people within its constituency then this wouldn't be happening.

1 complaint should not rob a fitness community of a place to come together and chase fitness and social goals. Industrial areas are generally accepted as being noisy. When you push fitness businesses to areas closer to residential areas there will be more complaints due to noise just because of the music played to make exercising more fun!!!

Council planning laws are making health and fitness small business uneconomic. Council need to immediately relax restrictions and amend planning laws to save jobs and businesses in demand by community

The council obviously hasn't thought about how their actions will affect small locally Australian owned businesses ... go the underdogs
