Major Concerns/Things to Consider:

Leadership, planning,

  1. - Council continues to fall back on the “Planning Act” as a means to pack as much into as little as possible. The surrounding community development should be the town’s focus/mission for the creation of homes through the Planning Act and not infringe on established community standards.

Traffic

  1. Robert Gordan Dr is the major entrance to the surrounding community. Multi family/multi vehicle households would create multiple cars parked on Robert Gordan Dr regularly.
  2. RGD serves as the gateway for the surrounding neighborhoods mail box access.

Parking / Safety (inadequate dwelling parking)

  1. - Added cars on streets prove unsafe for surrounding pedestrians/crossing

(we have all seen Robert Gordan Drive during the Caledonia Fair!)

Invasion of surrounding neighborhood privacy

  1. - These plot layouts are inconsistent with the current neighborhood layout “grid style”. Homes on the corners of Haller Place/Haller Cres and Robert Gordan will have housing from an elevation looking down into backyards and homes.

Zoning, Future

  1. This is a mature neighborhood zoned accordingly. What is stopping rezoning of any future land to multiple dwellings in the name “The Planning Act”?
  2. Owners should abide by the current Zoning R1 Zoning By-law prohibiting the construction of these dwellings.

*Remember, just because they present a plan DOES NOT mean it is a good one!

Let your voice be heard!

We believe that the construction of 2 Semi Detached Dwellings on the empty lot adjacent to 322 Caithness St is "Obnoxious" to the fabric of the local community and with your support look to prevent re-zoning of this lot from R1 (A) to R2. At times dealing with local government bodies can appear daunting, but with enough community support behind the request anything is possible. The planning committee intends to deliberate on community member submissions and requests after the meeting on May.21.2024 before presenting the Haldimand council with their recommendations later the same day. Remember these public servants are paid via property tax collections and the councilor for ward 3 in the 2022 election only garnered 3900 total votes. Your voice matters and can make a difference.

We ask all individuals who can to please attend the Planning application meeting at 9:30 am in Cayuga at the Haldimand County Administration Building on May 21.2024. There is power in numbers and the more people in attendance the more pressure our voices will put on the Planning Body and in turn our elected officials.

We appreciate you taking the time to sign this petition and ask you to contact WARD 3 councilor Dan Lawrence (phone number 905-515-9181; email dlawrence@haldimandcounty.on.ca ) and/or Mayor Shelly Ann Bentley( phone number 905 318 5932 ext 6101; email sbentley@haldimandcounty.on.ca) to share your concerns.
