I am so thankful that my children graduated prior to the Common Core being implemented. If I still had school age children, I would definitely seek a private education for them so they would be educated by the REAL educators -- our TEACHERS. The ELA and math common core standards are actually "dumbing down" education. These are not standards to would want my children educated. They are LOW standards, not to mention INACCURATE. Stop the madness!

I have researched this for a year and it is so bad from so many angles we must stop it now. What I see my kid and other kids bring home from school is totally unacceptable. The new AP courses - esp. AP US History also need to be stopped in MI until re-written. The are false and bias and that is not acceptable.

We had a meeting with the Superintent of our school in Muskegon and got no where.. we don't know what to do to stop this crap

These standards are not "rigorous" or internationally benchmarked or field tested. None of the proponents can point to any evidence that shows that they are. The federal government has no business imposing these standards on the states. Education is clearly mandated by the states; not by the feds. The implementation of these standards has nothing to do with being able to compete in the global market. They have nothing to do with improving our children's education. Michigan must repeal the implementation of these standards. The sooner the better for our children's sake and the sake of Michigan's future.

This system is beyond out of control and taking children to a stressful level not helping them to learn or complete homework on their own. It's a failure of a way to teach children by adding so many steps just to complete an assignment. Moral standards should be up to the parents to teach their children not the teachers or district.
