Common core math is only teaching children frustration and anger! My 5th grade granddaughter now dreads math homework. The system is failing her. Getting to the correct answer is hell.

My kids who are in 4th and 5th grade used to think they were smart/good at math. EVERY NIGHT OF OUR LIVES IS A BATTLE!!!!! I used to teach second grade and I can't even decipher what cc wants these kids to do. For subtracting fractions you have to draw tape diagrams with brackets???!? WHAT'S a TAPE DIAGRAM???? How can parents help their kids when we don't know what this crap is!!! I have to watch youtube tutorials by some 11yr old to figure this bs out!!!! I'm tired at the end of the day....but yet we have to deal with our crying kids at the homework table who NOW HATE MATH AND SCHOOL!!!!! I hate you CCSS along with the 24 idiots who wrote it!!!! Most don't even have backgrounds in teaching!!!! Ludicrous!!!!

I am a teacher of 20 years plus experience, still teaching in a grade school in Illinois. I have seen mostly frustration among my peers and among parents regarding the Common Core. It pushes us all backwards instead of forwards. Teacher creativity has taken a big hit, school districts are being forced to spend even more money they do not have to fill the pockets of curriculum development companies who salivate at this opportunity created by the Common Core teams, and the States who agreed to this system cannot finance the difference either. Get rid of the Common Core alternative. Governors and State lawmakers--Stop giving up and restricting the freedoms of your state and your districts by allowing this system to leach money and time so precious to the future welfare of your youth.

I will accept Common Core when our legislators take the PARCC test and once they come into classrooms and see Common Core in action. Common Core is not raising standards but is instead is taking away the ability of teachers, parents, and schools to determine the needs of their population and design appropriate curriculum to advance their students.

My daughter has learned nothing for the past 2 years because of common core!!! Common core standards are clearly standards written by morons!!! Get rid of common core and the data collecting!!

By the time my kids hit high school, they were so far behind the Catholic school kids in math. Guess the private schools are not forced to teach Common Core.
