We as parents are involved in nearly every decision for our children before they enter school. Why were we not included in the educational process that will shape their entire academic experience? History is repeating itself here only with a new logo, "Education without Representation!"

Please stop taking my children's freedom away!! We have worked to hard to protect our freedoms to just have them invaded in the only place I send them to receive safe and qualified education but now I have to protect them from that too. We had a Foreign exchange student from Norway where all they use is computers for their education. They go 1extra year of High school and they have to decide by grade 11 what profession they want to be. Their studies start to train them and focus on that profession only. How many people know what they wanted to be at age 14 with no work or field experience. While she was studying here in the US she really struggled with the school work because she was not use to taking notes and listening for key points as the teacher was giving instruction because she was so use to the computer telling her what to do word for word! She flunked and barely passed some courses. If we are trying compare ourselves to the the rest of the worlds education I think we are like a cows in pasture that thinks the grass is greener on the other side. It is just taller weeds that have no nutritional value and we are fools to think otherwise.

Hailing from Canyon County!
25 years ago, when I was a schoolboy, none of this Common Core crap would have even been considered. We already have a Department of Education, what else does the federal zoo want with our education system?
Extortion and bribes do not constitute a very firm foundation of honor for these "voluntary" changes. We're being suckered into this by a group of gangsters in DC who know they can't use normal tactics to tear power away from the local governments and school districts and regular folks like you and I, so they smugly wave money in front of our cash-strapped leaders in Idaho and then lie through their teeth about Common Core to sell it.
How can our freedom-loving, staunchly conservative / libertarian, patriotic state of Idaho have this kind of crap foisted upon us with our state government's blessing? Lies and mis-information from the Governor's Association (with lots of support from Gov. Otter, mind you), big-city progressive educational leaders such as the head of the Meridian Joint School District, Tom Luna (remember, it was he who thought that it was a good idea to charge taxpayers for a laptop for each student within a certain grade range), and apparently, our school district leaders who were duped into going along with all this.
Get the dang government out of our schools, for cryin' out loud! They've infested everything else that should be left to local and state governments, and flatly ignored public outrage and outcry all across the nation about their policies, but like a 3-year old spoiled brat they stick their fingers in their ears and scream obnoxiously until we shut up.

I am asking you to introduce a bill to halt Common Core in Idaho and give local control back to the state and districts to set their own high standards.

Once parents have a choice kids have a chance. Kids, not teacher unions nor federal programs should be the focus of education!

I am so tired of the inconsistency. Until they have established all the rules and taught the rules to EVERY official, then we should not be participating in this. It is not fair that others can opt out just because they have an awesome superintendent or principal, but if your superintendent cares more about himself ad not his children, you get stuck with lies and distortion. I just was told that you cannot opt out in the entire state of Idaho. LIE. I want to cry and scream. Please do the right thing. For everyone.
