Short Avenue's enrollment is increasing and will continue to do so due to our new principal, increasing community support and a booming local economy. The space that we would lose to the charter school is already being used for important activities that attracted us to Short Avenue. That space will continue to be important as our enrollment grows.
LAUSD has promised Short access to computers for a long time, and they were finally making good on that promise but installing new computers in our lab. Co-location would take away that computer lab and subsequently waste all of the funding used to build it. This is unacceptable.
I am strongly opposed to charter co-location at Short Avenue.

This is my 3rd generation at this school! Please don't let us loose any of our rooms or very important special services such as the computer room, art room or our Pals rooms. This is a great school and will continue to grow and be a great school!!!

Prop-39, needs to be reviewed!!! Co-location is only good for the charter, it is not fair for the home-school, since there is no benefit for them, only losses! Short is growing and implementing so many good things, like Planet Bravo and Science Lab for the students, we need those spaces, they are not empty, please don't take them away from the kids!!!

A charter school would stunt the current growth we are experiencing at our neighborhood school for years to come. Our school has a new technology program called Planet Bravo that would have no space to continue next year if a charter co-located at Short Avenue Elementary. They would be taking over our art room, science room, computer lab and other rooms that contribute to our school's STEAM enrichment. No one wants to have a charter co-location at our school. There is no benefit to the neighborhood school when a charter invades the space for the current students with a co-location. We do not want a charter at our school.

I went to schools in LAUSD all my life. They were crowded, not personable and falling apart. Short Ave is the opposite of that. I love the small town school feel and love all the staff. Please keep our school the way it is now.
