We/I support the Gellinudd Hospital League of Friends Campaign to stop the closure of Gellinudd Hospital, Pontardawe.
We/I firmly believe that the hospital should be an integral part of the ABM Health Board Strategy to provide "care in the community", especially with an ageing population, who will require a diverse range of care to meet their particular needs and personal circumstances.
Gellinudd Hospital being a relatively new hospital built in the 1990's, has 30 beds, 24 of which are self contained cubicles, so is ideally suited/designed to offer this medical, nursing care.
We/I agree that the doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, occupational therapy and support staff based at the hospital have provided a safe caring environment for the old, frail, vulnerable, ill patients of the highest standard for many years.
We/I agree that the local community cannot lose this most loved, cherished NHS asset.
This petition will be e-mailed to Abertawe Bor- Morgannwg Health Board before the end of the consultation period i.e. 7th May 2013

The health board is still silent while our community waits for answers. I am preparing our formal response to their proposed plans now.

Such a lovely hospital. Really well looked after. Sad to see they want to just shut it down for no good reason.
LEAVE OUR HOSPITAL ALONE. It is a vital part of the community and it works perfectly fine as it is.
Dont close it please my mum worked there for years and the care they give is honestly second to none.
Ridiculous decision. Pontardawe needs this facility. People are getting older and they need care close to home not some massive hospital in town.
My nan spent two weeks here after her hip surgery and the staff were brilliant. You cant just ship these people off miles away from their families.
