Stop CIE AS Exam overlap!
We are AS level students urgently calling on CIE to review their decision to reschedule AS level examinations to the October/November series, which would directly overlap with A Level mock examinations.
while we understand that exam disruptions were due to unpredictable circumstances, the current plan is creating an intense and unfair situation for the students. Students are now expected to prepare for AS level external exams at the same time as A level mocks, both of which are critical for academic progression.
This overlap is creating an overwhelming workload within a short and non-flexible time period, which significantly increases stress, pressure, and academic burnout. Instead of having manageable revision timelines, students are now forced to divide their focus between two sets of very important exams taking place within a very short timeframe. This increased pressure contributes to anxiety, exhaustion, and reduced academic performance, making it incredibly difficult for students to perform to the best of their ability in either set of exams.
This situation also raises concerns about fairness and asessment standards, as students are being placed in conditions that will not be able to reflect their true potential. High-stake assesments should be spaced in a way that allows students enough time to prepare and demonstrate their true academic ability.
We are respectfully requesting that CIE reconsider this scheduling decision and explore alternative solutions, such as adjusting the exam timetable and providing greater flexibility.
This petition is not about rejecting external examinations, but for ensuring fairness, protecting student wellbeing, and maintaining the integrity of these assesments.
