Petition to Oppose Chestnut Solar Facility in Pleasant Township, Marion County, Ohio

To the Ohio Power Siting Board

Pleasant Township, Marion County, is one of the premier agricultural and residential locations in Central Ohio. Generations of farmers have farmed this land surrounding us. We, the residents, take pride in our community and cherish the beauty and peacefulness of our present environment. We wish to continue to live in our community without the intrusion and negative impact of the proposed Chestnut Solar Facility.

Chestnut Solar is a proposed solar-powered electric generation facility to be located in Pleasant Township, Marion County, occupying approximately 404 acres within a 562-acre project area and a capacity of up to 68 megawatts. This facility is in close/adjacent proximity to 210+ personal homeowners/property owners, abutting Southern Estates Subdivision and residential lots along Somerlot-Hoffman Rd. East, Owens Rd. East, Maple Grove Rd., Myers Rd and Newmans Cardington Rd. East.

The Solar project possesses a threat to the well-being of residents, including financial security and the right to fully enjoy the property we own, without suffering such devastating destruction of the peace, beauty, and harmony of our community which will result from this solar farm. Large scale solar facilities will impact the local environment in negative ways. Concerns range from visual impacts to property devaluation, noise, drinking water quality, unmanaged drainage systems, environmental concerns, loss of wildlife and habitats, health and safety.

We have and continue to exercise our options in the fight to prevent solar operations in our community securing resolutions from the Pleasant Township trustees and the Marion County Commissioners to prohibit solar and wind development in Pleasant Township as well as receiving the support of the Marion City/County Regional Planning Commission, State Senator of the 26th District Bill Reineke, State Representative of District 86 Tracy Richardson, and the Marion County Township Association to oppose the placement of solar in our township. We, the signed individuals here, respectfully request that you, members of the Ohio Power Siting Board, vote AGAINST the Chestnut Solar Proposal/Application.
