Cordoba is a wonderful city, and its early history is a fine example of religious tolerance. This whole building should remain in public ownership as it is part of world heritage.

It is located in a place where different faiths have fought, but also lived peacefully together.
Let this building stand for religious tolerance that embraces both the Christian and Muslim heritage of the building. I hope this building can be a symbol that represents the better angels of our nature, free from religious politics, but open to people of all faiths.

This would appear to be a deliberate slight against the Muslim faith by the Catholic Church. Hasn't Catholicism already caused enough damage to Spain over the centuries - not to mention during the Civil War,
Why antagonise adherents of the Muslim faith in this way? It is totally inappropriate and unjustified, and shows an utter disregard for the history of Córdoba and its Mezquita.
This must be stopped, and the Catholic Church must be put firmly back in its place.

This is not only a place of beauty and history, but also one of the few places where Muslim, Christian and Jewish influences witnessed a time of shared inspiration. It is a spiritual space beyond the ownership of any one religious group and must be respected for this.

The mezquita is unique in Europe, if not the world. It's simplistic symmetry and sense of infinite space as well as the cultural legacy of the moors are what most tourists come to enjoy. The cathedral was a piece of religious imperialism and vandalism and feels like a vulgar intrusion. Nevertheless it is there and reality should recognise the joint status. But to give the cuckoo in the nest exclusive ownership and recognition would be an outrage. It is the cultural and historic patrimony of the world.
