Sri Lanka as a country ratified to the The Convention on Biological Diversity this is a violation of the international agreements (as many other countries). However, “all citizens” must also understand biological diversity is about more than plants, animals and their ecosystems!! (inability to act so is a problem of the education system). As a nation with a “culture of conservation” reflects throughout millennia, conservationists and scholars must develop strategies with local, participatory and culturally sensitive approaches to conserve the mega-hotspot. The government and other institutions should act to protect the biodiversity not only though top-down planning and project implementation, but providing participatory and local solutions without compromising citizen’s lifestyle. Sadly, the overarching cause for the island’s conservation impediments is the “colonial-hangover mindset!! This festival is just a one event. I step against it.

Kindly stop the false marketing and STOP this event that will murder hundreds of Turtles by disrupting thier nesting season and nesting grounds. If you go ahead, to me ...you are Murderers
