It not the plastic but the noise pollution. We don't need this kind of drug tourism. Obviously you cannot be someone who loves this island. Rave parties are for brainless humans.

we can say this disturb the turtles, and its true. it does..but ask to cancel an event that bring such a number of tourists, that spend money, and have a different mind that just explore our nation its an abuse! lets get informed before criticize .

i dont think we should complain with the authorities once the organizers say they move from turtle beach. we ve so many beaches able to this event..

hey Alan and nicole i thing u should come and take a look on this event that fortunately, help a lot of srilankan people…simple people not like you ..the occidental people from the island..the people that criticize this event, but instead of do something, simply wash their hair in super chemical products, people thjat

Sri Lanka as a country ratified to the The Convention on Biological Diversity this is a violation of the international agreements (as many other countries). However, “all citizens” must understand biological diversity is about more than plants, animals and their ecosystems!! (inability to act so is a problem of the education system).
As a nation with a “culture of conservation” reflects throughout millennia, conservationists and scholars must develop strategies with local, participatory and culturally sensitive approaches to conserve the mega-hotspot. The government and other institutions should act to protect the biodiversity not only though top-down planning and project implementation, but providing participatory and local solutions without compromising citizen’s lifestyle.
Sadly, the overarching cause for the island’s conservation impediments is the “colonial-hangover mindset!! This festival is just a one event. I step against it.
