To our politicians: If you want to tell the world that you are environmentally conscious, this would be a good way to show it.

Your event will disturb and greatly distress the nesting turtles. Please note that these creatures are endangered and require to be left alone. Please realize that you will be violating environmental laws if the event takes place. Show that you care and cancel the event or find an alternate site.

Endangered Marine Turtles are highly vulnerbal to light pollution and human activities in the nesting beaches. Many countries have taken steps to prevent light pollution and human activities in their respective nesting beaches. The Rekawa Marine Turtle Sanctuary should live up to it's name and authorities should immediately take steps move this event out of the turtle sanctuary.

These rave parties are backed by drug gangs. The party organizers are from Hamburg in Germany and Stavanger in Norway. Doubt the DJs have SL work permits. There have already been drug arrests leading up to the event. The police commissioners in Colombo have been reminded of what's going on. Action to stop the rave is expected.

I went to this festival last year and honestly i have to say that the information you give are not true.
First of all it really is a eco-friendly festival, there was no distribution of any plastic, not even the water bottles, I stay till the last day and i saw the staff going around to pick up the litter, when they finish there was not any piece of garbage.
From what i read it looks like the party is taking place right on the beach, and even this is not true because it's inland and so there is no lights on the beach that can disturb the turtles (one night we took a walk on the beach and we even saw one coming to nest!!amazing!!)
I think for our country peaceful event like this are a good thing, they bring big amount of tourist and traveller people, for some days the village was full of life and the local people were really happy to have some exta income for them, renting out rooms and selling fruits and food to the people.
If you really want to protect the environment you should stop the construction of big resort in the area (most of the time run from foreigners business-men which they don't care at all about the environment), the only unnatural thing i saw was a big concrete building right on the beach, probably a new addiction to a luxury resort... that brings nothing to our people but only destroy the beautiful nature of the area and turtles' home!!!
