it is sad to see the acrimony that has occurred as a result of this situation. the issue is so much more than the finances - the lack of communication and seemingly disregard for the sentiments of the members of the club by the board needs to be realized and addressed. yes this is a rowing club (here for both competitive and recreational rowers) but the camaraderie of its members is essential for its prosperity and well being

The fee structure is a major issue for our club. I am not opposed to a potential change. But I believe that any change must be considered more thoughtfully and with better communication with all club members.

Let’s continue to welcome all types of rowers, not just competitive ones. And the “pay-as-you go” method has worked nicely...let’s keep it that way

Changing the fee structure as the board has done will change the entire culture of CLRA to strip it of its unique benefits.

I request a re-evaluation of the new payment plan, due to existing members concerns.

When I attended the special board meeting, I immediately thought what was missing from the "fee revision" process was dialogue participation from CLRA members and a sharing of all the research the Board had reviewed. As the meeting was wrapping up I heard some thoughtful alternatives being discussed (including a possible pilot program) which suggests to me that additional time, input, and more inclusive communication of research, objectives, and impact considerations would benefit the club and help us reach the best resolution. I certainly support taking the time to get it right.

CLRA draws strength from a diverse community who share an interest in rowing and support each other in ways that improve their rowing experience and abilities. I want to see board action that sustains these CLRA's goals.

Lakers have always been about WE - that is what kept me in the club for all these years. Leila

Why make a change after three decades of success? So far there has never been an open meeting to discuss the pros and cons of changing the fee structure or hear the views of the membership. The process has been completely one sided. The proponents have never been challenged on their delusion that it is somehow unfair to pay for the sessions you attend.

When I get occasional complements on my fitness I always reply : "I row at CLRA. Come, join us. No rowing experience needed. We are a community club". We should stay this way and have a fee structure that supports it.

The membership needs to be heard and honored. It is time for good leadership by the Board.

I applaud this constructive approach and support the respectful manner in which is suggested.

I fully support the position stated in this petition and hope the CLRA Board reverses this decision ASAP.
