Stop Additional Marijuana Retail Stores And Grow Operations In Glenwood Springs

Concerned citizens of Glenwood Springs please take the time to read the following public notice below on multiple retail marijuana stores and marijuana grow operations that are trying to get final approval to open and operate in our city. Please sign this petition that will be presented to the Liquor License and Retail Marijuana Hearing Officer of the City of Glenwood Springs and the City Council of Glenwood Springs (for appeals) before they approve or deny the applicants to let our voice be heard that we do not want these or any other further marijuana operations in our city. Also, please plan on attending any public licensing hearings or city council meetings where there is a marijuana license on the agenda as we need your voices heard that we are a family tourist town and we do not need to be inundated with drug stores and drug grow and distribution operations. These applications below are all in addition to the 5 retail marijuana stores and 1 warehouse grow operation that we already have! These are enough and we want no more. A town is about balance and we do not want to be known as a place that has marijuana stores left and right and we grow and produce in mass quantities. Its time to let our city know that we are not going to stand and watch our family friendly city and family tourist destination become a place that we do not even recognize anymore. Chadwick Building downtown at 8th and Cooper Kris and Glenn Chadwick We are very opposed to allowing additional pot shops in downtown Glenwood. It presents the wrong image of our town. It is also inappropriate for kids, and Glenwwod has lot of families that live and visit here. Please do not allow.
Steamboat Springs, another family centered mountain town does not allow marijuana shops in the downtown. They didn't want to look like Glenwood. This is a comment we read in their paper when we were visiting.
As a physician, I am appalled that we are condoning THC when it is not "our grandmother's weed" but a strong psychotropic drug affecting the brains of our young people! Yale study showed 1 out of 4 habitual users become bipolar. Is this the type of city we want to become?
I think "pot shops" should be held to the same standards as liquor stores applicants who are required to demonstrate to the liquor board a need for a store in locations that are not currently serviced. We presently have plenty of Pot shops located in Glenwood.
Glenwood Springs is a family destination for 2.1 million tourists each year. We have to support the reputation that we have all worked hard to create in our city, and MORE pot shops located downtown is not creating a family atmosphere going forward.

I am all for letting people choose to smoke or drink in the privacy of their home but there are plenty of liquor and marijuana stores already. We do not want this to be the "face" of Glenwood Springs. We were voted the most art friendly community. Let's not change that to the most stoned community.
