This is vandalism on a grand scale. The proposed solar farm must not be allowed. It will ruin 65 acres of agricultural land, taking it out of production and give a strong signal to other similar proposals that anything goes in Babergh. A more sensible approach is necessary, which preserves the countryside and steers such developments to industrial areas.

A more considered long term approach needed for this type of development. If this goes through, the damage will be irreversible as a green light will have been given to future similar proposals.

Solar panels should be installed on the roofs of industrial buildings or on the edge of urban areas, not in the middle of unspoilt countryside. If the argument for approving this application is that few people will be affected, then you might as well destroy all the most secluded and beautiful parts of the countryside.

This type of energy capture should be on top of industrial/retail buildings, or on brown field sites, not beside an ancient Grade 1 building set in a picturesque rural area.

This is a particularly beautiful part of Suffolk and must not be industrialised by such a huge development. As Greg Barker MP, minister of state for solar energy said recently, solar belongs on roof tops and brownfield sites not open countryside.

The Government is clear in its strong preference for such installation to be sited on brownfield sites and commercial & industrial roof spaces. Local Planning Authorities need to take notice.
