Stop # 27 Muni Bus Re-route
We the undersigned oppose the portion of Muni's Transit Effectiveness Project (TEP) to extend the route of the #27 Bryant bus on Leavenworth Street to turn left onto
Vallejo Street for a terminus at Van Ness Avenue. This unnecessary change will be detrimental to the character of our residential neighborhood which already has a high level of Muni service. The neighborhood is now served by # 1, 10, 12, 19, 27, 41, and 45 buses and the Hyde Street cable car. This change is not an efficient use of
Muni resources to increase ridership and improve service.
We support more efficient and sensitive alternatives to this proposed change in the TEP such as having the # 27 Bryant bus continue to turn left onto Jackson Street with a new route on commercial Polk Street to Vallejo Street for a terminus at Van Ness Avenue. This specific alternative would not disrupt the residential character of our neighborhood and would be more likely to increase ridership and improve service with better links to a commercial corridor, Polk Street.
Therefore, we ask Muni to protect our residential neighborhood and better use its resources to increase ridership and improve service by refining the TEP to use an alternative like the one listed above with Polk Street instead of unnecessarily extending the route of the #27 Bryant bus on Leavenworth Street to Vallejo Street.
