As members of the Stonoview HOA with an undivided interest in the common property, including the pool, we petition the Board of Directors ("Board") to reverse the rule that swim lessons may only be held Monday through Thursday mornings.
We believe that swim and water safety education is an important and essential program considering the numerous water amenities in and around the neighborhood (pool, ponds and river).
While we understand that there is a contingent of homeowners, albeit small, that would prefer not to have swim lessons at the pool during the weekend, the overwhelming majority of homeowners believe that holding swim lessons on the weekend for the children of Stonoview is an important developmental program that has little to no impact on the use and enjoyment of the pool amenities. The swim lessons are conducted with only three (3) children at one time and are completed by 11:00 am, well before the time the pool is even close to capacity. Furthermore, early mornings on the weekend serve as the best time for the lessons as many parents (and children) are not available due to work and school during the morning hours Monday through Thursday.
We request that the Board reverse its position and vacate any rule limiting when the pool may be used for swim lessons by Wednesday, May 11, 2022. In the event the Board elects not to vacate any such rule by Wednesday, May 11, 2022, then in accordance with Section 2.2 of the Bylaws of the Stonoview Homeowners Association, Inc., the members request a special meeting of the members be convened within thirty (30) days of Wednesday, May 11, 2022 to discuss the use of the pool amenities for swim lessons.

I really never expected this many people to back the idea of weekend lessons so quickly and honestly I am just sitting here staring at the screen in pure disbelief. It is so cool that we all seem to agree that a few kids in the water early on a Saturday morning does not ruin anyone's relaxation time while also being incredibly helpful for us parents who work all week.

800-1200 children 0-19 have died due to accidental drowning every years since 1999. Lessons seems like a simple preventative measure the neighborhood should allow at accessible times
For all those parents who WORK for a living and clearly do not have week days off to do swim lessons, much less have the time to complain to the HOA about small children learning water safety.
Ridiculous to not allow children the ability to learn to swim, especially being a community that is on the water. We personally do NOT have children and I even find this very upsetting/negligent
It is my experience that the smallest percentage of a group can be the loudest. Please don't allow the voice of a few (who are the complainers typically) make rules for the majority. Thank you!
Our kids should be able to have swim lessons in our pool that everyone pays equally for via HOA. Swim safety is important and should not be brushed off by the few that will not even be utilizing the pool during the requested hours.
Neighborhood swim lesson should occur as scheduled. It’s more beneficial to have kids that know how to be safe in water than not.
Please allow swim lessons to continue in our neighborhood pool. I don’t see how this could be considered a bad idea.

It makes no sense that anyone has the right to deny these children swimming lessons. I'm appalled at the lack of common sense and caring on the part of the complainers and the HOA. Kathryn, I know you are a kind person and that the higher-ups have your hands tied. Please let them know that we wield a very damning pen at Stonoview and have no compunctions about writing a letter to the editor at the Post and Courier if the HOA does not reverse this decision.
