The funding has finally been secured to install the lifts at Stoneleigh Station. My own family will no longer struggle with the stairs to catch a train. Thank you for pushing until they realized how vital this change is for our community.

Stoneleigh and Auriol is dissected by the railway and for many the need to use the steps to access the station makes it difficult, and for some impossible, to use the train service.

The Stoneleigh and Auriol Resident Association is campaigning South West Trains and Department of Transport to secure funds to make bring step free access.

Please sign our petition and support our campaign!

Thank you.

Watching the count climb reminds me of how often I have had to carry my elderly neighbor up those stairs just so she can get to her appointments. We are nearing five hundred signatures and hitting that mark will prove to the transport officials that this community refuses to be locked out of our own station.

Seeing this kind of momentum confirms that I am not the only one trapped by these stairs. Watching our community speak up about the barriers at Stoneleigh Station has given me a real sense of hope for the first time in years.

As Grandparents we would love to be able to take our young Grandchildren from Stoneleigh to London and other places of interest by train. Access makes it impossible for us. Surely in this day and age access for everybody, age and ability is of high priority ?

As a mum with a young baby I'm really unable to access the service which I used to use regularly. I feel cut off as walking to Worcester Park is 25 mins for me to walk. I'm sure so many people in our diverse community would benefit.

I live in Stoneleigh over 2 years now and I love this area. The only down turn is acces to the train station. I have a 2.5 year old daughter and sadly I find it almost impossible to walk upstairs and again downstairs at the stoneleigh train station.

Not only do my wife and I struggle with prams at the station but frequently see the same disabled people using the stairs. When anyone offers help they always refuse with a sense of pride. Step free access will make such a difference to everyone using the station

The stairs make it very difficult for members of the public to use the train service. My nan also had a fall down the stairs a couple of years ago. It is increasingly hard for members of the public and there is also a big safety hazard.

We have a high level of elderly residents and families with small children needing to use pushchairs on both sides of the railway track. This would enable more people to access the trains and not use cars for short journeys.
