Stirling Road Speedbumps
Speed kills.
The rising death tolls on South African roads attest to that fact. But where speed is inevitable on main roads and high ways, this should not be the case in our suburbs.
We, the residents of Stirling Road and the surrounding areas, feel that the installation of the traffic light at the intersection of Stirling and Balmoral (Previously a four-way stop) has led to drivers cruising down our road at speeds far higher than the 60km/h that is stipulated by law - which is also unreasonably fast for a densely populated, residential area.
Speeding along residential roads such as ours places residents and pedestrians in great danger. This is a road walked by many passers-through, families, children and pets, and we hereby appeal to the Johannesburg Roads Agency to assist us by placing speedbumps or humps in Stirling road.
