Stevens Institute Of Technology to kick out Seniors from their homes.
Stevens is looking to convert 5 rental buildings on the 500 block of Hudson Street into student housing. Currently, those buildings are occupied by Stevens employees and four senior citizens, some of whom have lived there the better part of their lives. We can all understand Stevens' need for additional student housing, but they must search for an alternate solution. While Stevens has offered each unit $10,000 as compensation, no dollar amount can be placed on the toll of a move at this point in a person's life. Please sign this petition and show Stevens that Hoboken's seniors are an invaluable part of our community. Please put your address in the comments field to show you are a resident of Hoboken.
Stevens keeps pretending their insulting payout solves the displacement of our neighbors. They are choosing corporate expansion over the dignity of people who built this community and we are not going to let them sweep these residents under the rug.

The momentum behind this fight is proof that Hoboken will not stand by while Stevens Institute treats our seniors like line items on a budget. This is a massive surge of defiance against their greedy expansion plans and they are finally starting to feel the heat.

1124 Garden St. These people have been our neighbors for decades. Stevens needs to stop acting like they own the whole town and treat actual residents with some basic respect.

802 Hudson. Total greed. Find somewhere else to put the dorms.

This is honestly shameful. You cannot just pay off people to leave the homes theyve lived in for years like they are just trash. Leave these seniors alone!
