The UK has floundered at the Eurovision Song Contest in recent years, struggling to pick up decent points and compete against other big nations. 2019 saw one of the UK's worst results, ultimately coming last, and completing a string of poor performances in recent years (the last time that the UK finished within the top 10 was in 2009).

The UK has tried a number of ways to decide who goes to Eurovision each year, including running a separate show where acts compete for the privilege to represent us. Recently this has been changed (for the cancelled 2020 contest), with the BBC partnering with a record label to decide who goes on to compete. We don't think this is a democratic way of deciding the UK act, but we haven't had much luck with the public deciding either.

Which leads us to today's petition: We want Steps to represent us at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest.

Steps recently reformed for the release of their 2020 album "What the Future Holds". As a late 90's and 2000's staple, Steps are well known by both the British public and across the world as an energetic group, delivering a ton of hit singles and five albums to date. They are the perfect group to represent the UK in 2021, coming off the back of big publicity with their new album and harnessing the creativity they've used to create it.

This is a great opportunity for the UK to put forward a competitive and well-loved act to Eurovision, potentially for the first time in over ten years, with an energetic and modern sounds that will capture the minds and hearts of Europe and World.
