I have known Stephen and his family since his birth. There have been struggles but he does not deserve 30 years!

Free this boy, who is now a man.

Time to free this young man and get him and others like him the help he needs. What kind of system do we have where you can actually kill someone and get out of prison before a non violent drug addict. Wake up its time to correct this and get these people the help they need.

This boy never stood a chance. When an addict is begging for rehabilitation, that's the biggest step. And then to be denied the help. !!!! Crazy.!!! And I would really like to understand why ? I mean does the time fit the crime here ? No ! Can you just take a persons whole life away from him just for an adduction ? How is him being locked up benefitting anyone ? I don't see it.

I think it's sad that a young man gets a 30 year sentence for drugs & is given no rehabilitation at all since he has been in there, but yet you can let murderers & pedophiles out in three or six years. I see this happening all the time. Why not give the young man the help he needs & reduce his sentence. That is a terribly harsh sentence to place on anyone with a drug problem. I could understand if he had committed a crime that was horrific or had hurt someone , but what your system is doing is very unfair & unjustifiable. The people who inflict these kind of sentences on anyone that doesn't deserve this inhumane treatment do not deserve to hold a job in law enforcement of any kind. Where is the justice in all this? Because he has a drug problem, do you think that is going to help him get better to incarcerate him for 30 years?? God have mercy on everyone of you who sit in judgment of people! He did not murder anyone in cold blood or molest anyone. Those are the people who need to get harsher sentences. He needs rehabilitation for God sake! What a lousy judicial system we have!

Please free this young man! This is an unruly, over the top, horrific World Wide issue. The war on drugs has been proven over and over to not be an effective way to deal with the horrible issue of drug addiction. Throwing away the key on someone who has been charged with drug use and possession - really? Having worked with and lived with this all around me - no one person can fix this for anyone. It takes making access to true, rehabilitation lrograms that are given to those in jails in prison, not a one size fits all problem. AA doesn't work for everyone there are plenty of alternative, proven programs that work for those losing their whole world to drugs. Many make it out here, and many that don't have nobody who cares, this guy has a ton of support, and a mom who has not and will not rest or give up until he is given the opportunity to be given a different option. This is so sad, and heartbreaking. To whomever reads this or has a say so - I would also be happy to provide plenty of examples or real options, and assist in referrals etc. Please rethink the judicial process in this specific case as well as begin adapting to some of what CA is finally doing to find alternatives to incarceration. CA has one of the largest incarcerated populations in the world. Prison over populated by about 265%. Now lower each day. The Feds are the ones enforcing this here. Why not also clean your own house up too. Thank you and no disrespect. It is an archaic system made and inherited by those now scratching their heads and wondering where to start. Adapt some of the State of CA new laws. They are not perfect but they will get better
