These animals are helpless victims of irresponsible owners. Too bad we don't have a veterinary school in Manitoba. Student vets could do a lot of testing and spaying and neutering which would help those with pets afford to take care of them. There are so many strays that get taken in because people can't stand them out in the cold and then they can't afford all the costs involved. Why should it cost $50 just to see if the animal has fleas or $50 to check and see if they are carrying an illness. If prices were more reasonable according to income status, then there would be a lot less strays. This is definitely needed in more than just STeinbach. I totally support this venture

I am surprised that a city of this size doesn't have an animal shelter / rescue. Time to build one . . NOW and help these little critters have a safe, warm place especially for the winter. AND remember people . . . SPAY OR NEUTER your animals.
