There is no reason for this to be mandatory for trading. There are many users out there who do not need or make use of a phone and therefore should not be subjugated to having one just to be able to trade.

I pay my way through life as a 17 year old by trading in game items affiliated with some steam games (primarily TF2/CSGO). My parents aren't financially stable enough to afford much for me, so the best I can buy right now for a phone is a Nokia windows phone, which operates off of a windows operating system. The mobile authentication app only caters to iOS and Android OS. This impacts me heavily because I've managed to never get scammed and now I get hit with this update which will do nothing but cause my money put into the game useless. It renders every penny ive ever made and put into the game worthless, because I won't be able to get rid of this. I strongly disagree with this update, and think steam should rethink how they go about dealing with scammers. There's so many better methods of going about this issue, this one is definitely towards the terrible end.

If this Escrow update is actually true, it would most definitely demolish the trading community. It's complete and utter BS.
