There are people who do NOT have a smartphone or a phone at all using steam. Adding this requirement to trading also increases the time it takes to trade for a new account as well. Including this to already having to purchase something in order to do basically anything in steam is ridiculous.

Please don't do this. Many folks don't have smart phones. I am all for 2-factor authentication, but not limited to using a smart-phone.

This will ruin some parts of many games for the majority, if not all users.

This update would kill scrap.tf, the site that I spend a lot of time on.

Singing this petition is a no-brainer. If this update goes through it will ruin the whole trading process and damage the steam community. Large amounts of people do not own mobile devices and while this adds a new safeguard to protect against scammers, it does destroy automated trading sites and hurts heavy-traders drastically.

Many people don't own phones or have broken mobiles, so adding a feature which further limits trading is obscene.
We already have to wait 7 days after using a payment method to actually trade, then another 7 on top if they are recently obtained items, plus we have optional email verification and mobile authentication to further delay trades. If Valve continues like this it will take more than 20 days to complete a trade!

WTF... Can't imagine why Valve would even consider shooting themselves in the foot with this scheme?

This idea doesn't benefit anyone who is into trading. It'll kill the casual market, it'll hinder the pro market and stop bots for better AND worse. Valve needs to incentivise this idea a different way (e.g. unsellable/tradable cosmetics for TF2/CS:GO/DOTA2).

Valve... Y U DO DIS. Doing an escrow system is gonna basically kill trading off. People will leave TF2, CS:GO, Dota2 or any game that supports Steam trading. They will not pay for anything that can be traded, making Valve lose a big amount of money. Not everyone has a bloody smartphone that supports the Steam App.
