But seriously, this is absolutely unnecessary for multiple reasons.
1. Not everyone has a mobile phone. (like myself)
2. If people used common sense, this wouldn't even be necessary. Don't click suspicious links or make trades with someone to confirm the item isn't "duped".
Hope Valve will change their mind. :c

Just don't do it. As if account authentication for new devices were bad enough, this is unreasonable. And I personally hate using the mobile authenticator.
