If valve does go through with this, many communities will shut down which will be huge negative impact on the steam economy. So please, Valve, I beg you valve NOT to go through with the Escrow update, and I myself am an avid trader so to see this security enforced will really annoy me and many others.

This will ruin trading for everyone, including anyone coming into trading new. Not everyone has a phone that they can use with this. Trading is already secure, so it doesn't need this.
