I like the way the trading system is. I'd rather not lose a trade site because of some phising technique going around.

Valve may look like Customer and User Safety is crucial to them, but in all seriousness, their reputation and income matter more than anything else in their world.
This is most likely an attempt at seeing what throws them off their position as a good service and company, and with them FULLY KNOWING that that this will kill trading and community item values, this is definitely a move to manipulate the Steam/Valve community to see what sinks their ship or not.
They think that it's going to skew the number of scammers, but that can't work.
It will NEVER work.
