This system ultimately hurts the economy of many of Valve's games. If they value their virtual economies, then this system makes no sense to implement.

I don't use third-party trading websites myself, but I feel that it is sentimental to many in the community of games I play, especially Team Fortress 2.
This would rather hurt the market than save it.
