I just don't understand. Surely it would be in Steam's best interests to NOT destroy essentially everything to do with trading; websites, gambling, etc. which collectively makes millions of dollars for steam. The only thing I can think of is that they have some sort of hidden deal with Apple or Samsung to boost smartphone sales.

Valve is not trying to address the issue of scamming, at least if they are, they don't actually know how to do it. Escrow will NOT solve the scamming issue, there is probably an ulterior motive here.

There is no way in hell I will use my phone just to gain access trades right away. Steam enforcing this rule makes them comparable to Kim Jong Un or Hitler. I would rather have something much more simple like using the email to verify trades, not mobile phones.
