At no point on that evening did I feel pressured into drinking, that I felt at risk or that I would be uncomfortable saying that I would not drink alcohol.

Everyone that attended would agree that there was no pressure to consume alcoholic beverages. At no point on the night was our health and safety compromised!

There was no pressure at all for anyone to drink alcoholic drinks if they did not want to. Our health and safety was not at all compromised.

I never felt that my health or safety was in danger and that if I wanted not to drink it would not be an issue as non-alcoholic drinks were available throughout the night and participation in games was 100% optional.

I Agree,I beleive I speak on behalf of all the staff that took part that any suggestion there was pressure put upon us to drink and take part is deeply patronising and overlooks the fact we are students at university, not children in primary school; If we are old enough to drink and undertake a degree, i suggest the persons involved in the action against our managers bear in mind we actually have our own mind, and any suggestion we can be coerced into drinking is highly patronising and offencive to everyone involved. it is deeply disheartening to think the managers involved could have their careers affected for merely helping us have a great night. At no point was there any imminent danger present.

I agree with everything that has been written above. As a new member of the Bar Staff team I did not feel pressured to drink, nor did I feel as if I were being "initiated" into the group. At no point did I feel as if my personal safety or the personal safety of others were endangered; Richard gave us a full briefing on the boat race in order to prevent any accidents and make sure we were all happy with the game.

I agree with the details above. I was working the event and would like to reiterate that those taking part were not on duty and the only ones in uniform were those working behind the bar. As I was able to observe the night I would also like to add I never witnessed anyone being forced to drink and that many people did consume soft drinks without being subjected to peer pressure

This social event in no way infringed on the health or safety of bar staff members. I had taken the entire day off to celebrate the event and was excited to be personally invited to the bar social to get to know other staff outside of work. As an older student with child commitments, I participated in the event as a non-drinker, and never once felt pressurised into consuming alcohol, even during the games that ensued. I felt comfortable and confident and enjoyed my evening. The managers and team leaders have always been supportive, responsible and sensitive towards the staff in their care.

I took part in this social as a new member of the bar staffing team. It can be very difficult to get to know everyone working at the bar due to the vast number of us and the way everything works with the shifts. These socials are great fun and a massive boost to morale for all the staff that work at the bar alongside their studies. At no point was there any pressure upon us to drink alcohol (a number of people had lectures the next day and were on soft drinks). The boat race outside in the square was managed brilliantly by Rich to ensure everyone's safety. This was a night for us all to get to know each other and have some fun.

I believe the petition to be accurate. I was working on the night of the event and was able to observe the event. At no point was any of the staff behaving in an unacceptable manner. The staff was not forced to drink and no initiations of any sort were taking place during the event.

Those at the event who were drinking did so, as far as I am aware, of their own accord. There were a number of people not drinking and they didn't appear to be under any pressure to do so.

I did not feel pressurised into drinking and was not encouraged to do so either. All drinks consumed were bought by fellow members of the bar staff. I feel at our age we are able to make our own choices whether to drink or not. I know some people did not consume alcohol and while playing games where given non-alcoholic options such as J2O. The bar socials are a tradition and are a great opportunity for old and new staff to get to know each other. I feel it boost morale behind the bar and helps with team work.

At no point did I feel pressurised to participate in the games if I didn't want to. Regardless of whether you decided to buy alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, the way the social was conducted was a brilliant way of getting all old and new staff together, which then allowed me to meet some good friends

The first social is important for everyone to get to know each other at the bar as you work with a variety of different people. At no point were there any initiations and there was no alcohol forced upon anyone. Everyone bought their own drinks from the bar so were able to choose soft drinks and there was no peer pressure to drink. Additionally, at no point in the evening did I feel that mine or anyone else's health and safety was at risk.

At no point did I feel pressured into doing anything I did not want to do or was not comfortable with.

At no point in the night did it feel we were forced to drink or participate in any drinking games, i do feel that through management being present it was far safer than any society/club event could be.

At no point in the night did I feel that myself or others were peer pressured into drinking games or initiations. I personally think it is absolutely ridiculous that the union are trying to punish people for this. It was a very safe event in which everyone was responsible for buying their own drinks in blue bar. There was absolutely no trouble or rowdiness and we was only in blue bar for a very short amount of time anyway before moving into town!
