Enough is enough. These cuts are gutting the uni and treating staff like disposable inventory. London Met deserves better and so do the students.

I work in a university because I enjoy the academic culture that fosters good collaborative research and learning. Zero-hour contracts and farming out services to private companies goes entirely against this culture. If more universities go this way they will lose good people (and maybe me) to higher paid jobs in industry or positions overseas, where this culture is still being maintained.

Strongly in favour of total boycott. No doubt the first of many to come. Advantage of this is that the action may be collectively sanctioned (as UCU policy) but its implementation is entirely down to individual choice: if approached to act as external examiner, to validate programmes etc, simply refuse!
