Dear Mr Lucas, Mr Abrams and the people at Disney and Lucasarts. We, the fans of Star Wars, are of course very happy to see that another film is being produced, yet we are worried. Star Wars has become more than just a collection of cinematic features, it has spawned an entire universe of books, comics and games. This expanded universe shares a consistent continuity unlike any other franchise; we fear that a film, set after the original trilogy, will either greatly upset this established continuity or destroy it completely. Therefore we ask you, when making this feature film, to consider these options: 1) Make a film set between established eras of the Star Wars lore (e.g. during the "New Sith Wars", set between two-thousand and a thousand years before Episode I, or during/before the "Cold War" of the recent The Old Republic MMO) 2) Make a film after the original trilogy, without causing too much harm to established EU canon, be mindful of characters and events created by authors and loved by fans, get those writer's input. 3) Make a film in the far future, after the events of the Legacy comics, where classic characters can show up as references or Force-ghosts.
