It simply should be reintroduced into the franchise's canon.

The Truth about Legends (EU) and Canon
Simple answer is...
canon = official (real)
legend = not official (not real)
But in reality, it's a little more complicated then that.
Disney has NOTHING to do with what's canon or legends.
the whole big retcon that turned the EU into Legends was decided by the Lucasfilm Story Group in 2014.
In fact, had Disney not purchased Lucasfilm, TCW and other new content would have retconned much of the EU.
Fact is, this had been going on for years.
EU licenses were initially handed out like candy with no rules or repercussions. At that time, most thought the franchise was dead. The licencing was simply another way for Lucasfilm to make money.
As Heir to the Empire proved, because of it's immense success, the franchise wasn't dead.
Licencing became a big money maker at this point in time.
Now, what many of you don't realise is that EU licenses was literally 'official fanfiction' for the most part. Every publisher and writer knew straight up that George could retcon any of their stories at any time. They ALL knew this. And it was accepted.
George was literally letting others play in his sandbox.
Another issue with the EU... writers were contradicting each other, retconning each other. It was a mess at times.
And even though many would argue that the majority of the EU was not only subpar in story quality (but there are indeed truly great stories as well), much of it was introducing elements that went completely against the concepts that George introduced.
Slowly over time, Lucasfilm began to re-acquire more and more control over the content. But they never had full control.
And prior to 2014, they were talking about making bigger retcons.
And finally, with the Story Group that was hand picked by George himself, people who knew exactly what George wanted his story to be, which concepts were correct and which were not, finally made t
