During Obama's campaign, he promised to provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants by creating "a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens." Then on May 28th, 2008, President Obama promised to fix our broken immigration system, "I cannot guarantee that it is going to be in the first 100 days. But what I can guarantee is that we will have in the first year an immigration bill that I strongly support and that I'm promoting. And I want to move that forward as quickly as possible." President Obama did not keep his promise to make these important changes in his first year, but he CAN keep his promise in his last year!
