McKinney ISD requires high school students to start school a whole hour earlier than the recommended time from the CDC. It was pushed forward due to the budget, however, all incoming freshmen receive a MacBook Air. Students are also required to drive to school during rush hour. These early times have students barely able to stay awake and cause them to be less productive. 2/3 of students get less than 7 hours of sleep and end up sleeping in class because of this. Overall, students are less productive with these early start times, which causes unneeded stress to the already stressful lives of teenagers.
