A sleep deprived, growing adolescent can not function. Let them sleep.

As a parent of 5, 4 who have completed (or are in) high school, I completely agree. This should include and possible sports or any other "early morning" requirements

Much evidence shows that not all body clocks are set the same way and certainly adolescent body clocksare set the latest of all. Please start the high school day later. Being an early riser does not indicate virtue. it indicates someone with a paricular biology. Being a late riser does not indicate poor time management or sloth - it is a real biological need for many and certainly teens. Please change the schedule.

Good sleep is so necessary for our brains, our bodies and our overall health. Let's keep Chesterfield HEALTHY. Please let our high schoolers get their sleep!

Please change the start time! My son can hardly keep his eyes open long enough to eat and then he gets in the car and drives - so scary every morning!

As a clinical child psychologist I enthusiastically support this proposed time change.

This start time really does make sense for all involved.

I find it hard to believe a school system would ask a growing adolescent to give up a basic, human need - sleep. What's next? Less time to eat lunch? I hope rational minds prevail.

This change needs to be done ASAP. These children are our future.

The current school start times encourage new drivers to be among the first people on the road. Since we know that, per the American Pediatric Association guidelines, teens are incapable of full attention at these times, any delay beyond this point is a contributing factor to preventable tragedies. Change the start times to reflect the medical facts.

The research on sleep deprivation proves that CCPS must make schedule changes for our children to be healthy now.

My Freshman, who is a good student, often falls asleep in first period. He is going through a growth spurt and his body craves sleep.

More critical sleep, fewer risky behaviors, increased school success. Yes! We can figure out sports schedules for this payoff.
