I agree 150% with the statements made about STAR TEAM Aids. We are extremely flexible and very hard workers that truly do deserve better compensation. We are extremely companionate and often hit with very heavy workloads that change every 4-8 hours. It is a hard but very rewarding job. We deserve the best of the best because that is exactly what we are! Thank you!

I agree, Star PCAs deserve a diffential just as the nurses do. We do more and to float on different floors .

Hello my name is Sharanika aka (Nika) and I have been a aid here. At HH for many years and I have seen a lot with the pca role, during those years here. Some changes was made, some good, some bad. But as for the pca role a lot more changes needs to be addressed. One of those issues, I feel need to be changed is the differential pay for us stars/floats. I agree floating is not easy, we are going floor to floor. That are already short, you can't really get any help when we need it. Sometimes we cant even get a break and that's sad. We work very hard just like everybody else. The pca role matters too but to be honest it doesn't feel like it. As a aid I feel like we have nothing to look forward to. The bonus was taking away which made us even shorter. We didn't get any travel CNA ,so I don't understand why the bonus was cut from us. So why would we want to work extra. The pay isn't that great to began with. I am a per dm pca and I have consider coming back full time. But I don't think I will until at least some things are addressed. Thank you

I agree that Star PCA should have a differential pay for floating to different units. It gives them incentive as floating is not easy.

Star Team PCAs should receive a floating differential for the versatilty they provide to the hospital.

I cannot even begin to speak about the blatant disrespect I feel working as a STAR PCA. As some of the most hard working PCAs throughout Hartford Hospital, I feel as if majority of the time our dedication to do a job that most wouldn't care to do simply goes unnoticed. While there are some nurses that are appreciative of us PCAs and do their best to help us out, there are also nurses who simply utilize us as if we are their servants. For example, I've had nurses constantly rushing me to complete Q4 vitals and finger sticks, as if I don't already have 15+ patients. Being that I am a full time college student, I sacrifice a lot of my social time as well as studying time to pick up mandated 8hr minimum per week shifts, being that most of the time those happen to occur overnight for me. I as someone who values others time always try to show up 5 minutes early to relieve the PCAs, but on the other end, I have stayed over for nearly 45 minutes waiting to be relieved which is in my honest opinion disrespectful and as if my time has no value. I cannot blame STAR for this as I know there is a huge staffing issue across the nation for Nurses and PCAs, but I should not have to be floated to a floor overnight and be the only PCA for the entire floor, being I have 20+ patient to tend to. On the other hand, I did not take a job as a PCA more specifically a STAR PCA to be the designated "COIN PCA" whenever I'm floated. Similar to my colleagues, I am rarely ever checked up on when sitting. I have done plenty of 8 and 12 hours shifts where I am not even offered a 5 minute break let alone a 30 minute break. Whenever floated to the ED, I have witnessed PCAs simply hiding or going to talk to their friends in Blue Pod while I'm answering their call lights in Orange. For the amount of work we do, our hourly wage is simply just not enough. Had it not been for the organization-wide 3% pay increase, I still would be making $15 dollars an hour. There are literally fast food restaurants that

I also agree with every thing that has said. As star team PCAs we also deserve differentials as much as the nurses do. We float trough out the whole hospital, and most times get the most difficult assignments. Lets not forget to mention the ED, when I'm a floor PCA I feel like I'm the only one working while their own staff PCA hides or refuses to help their own staff nurses. When we get put to coin we barely get a break to use the bathroom their response most times, we are short, we didn't even get a break. Or they will say, let me find a PCA to come and they never show up. We are treated horrible at times, some units we have to hunt pcas to get report, sometimes we dont even get report and wwe have to hunt nurses and get way behind on our assignments, due to the fact that we sometimes are late bc we also have to give handouts when we get floated.

I agree, STAR pcas deserve a differential just as the nurses do. We do more and to float on different floors require us to have the skills and knowledge of each floor.

I agree star PCAs should enjoy a differential just as Star nurses do. They are expected to do more, know more and be more flexible, and we need to provide incentive in the form of fair compensation.

STAR team PCA's are most often my biggest support system when floating throughout the hospital. They too are required to hold skills in multiple specialties throughout the hospital, sometimes being required to float every 4 hours. I believe they deserve a STAR team differential just as the nurse have. STAR team PCA's work just as hard, sometimes harder than nurses, and definatly harder than other PCA's in the hospital, and deserve fair compensation for their skills and flexibility.

Start team PCA's deserve differential for the hard work that they do. given that they can float q4h and have a vast knowledge about the needs of many different units in the hospital.

I agree. We float around the whole hospital. We should be compensated more. We work so hard, and most times we get the most difficult assignments with more patients then their own staff PCAs. Also when we coin, units tend to forget that we need to use the bathroom, and also have to eat. I love being part of the Star team, I work with great people. We do deserve more

As PCA/PAA we have made our own contribution to the growth of this organization. Often times we work under unfavorable circumstances and sometimes are disrespected. Nonetheless we do our best. Additionally we should not have to exhaust ourselves with this rate of pay and so I strongly believe more can be done to improve this situation hence my decision to sign this petition.
