We the undersigned object against application 13/0036/FUL to develop the Staples and Lloyds site at 121-125 Chesterton Road, Cambridge. The massing and height of the structure are too great, and the design of the building is inappropriate to the area. We believe the importance of Mitcham's Corner demands a development of much higher quality. We are concerned that the loss of parking on the site will impact local retailers. We also have concerns regarding the safety of the students, and the impact of their travel on traffic near Mitcham’s Corner. We support the detailed objections of the Friends of Mitcham’s Corner.

Updates

February 26, 2013

The feedback I read daily reflects a genuine concern for the character of Mitcham's Corner and the future of our neighborhood streets. These perspectives provide a clear foundation as we prepare to present our case to the planning committee regarding the scale of the proposed development.

Reaching this level of support confirms that many of us feel a deep responsibility to preserve the character of Mitcham's Corner. It is heartening to see such a collective commitment to ensuring that new development respects the history and safety of our neighborhood.

Mitcham's Corner deserves better than this cheap looking block. Please stop this development.

That building is way too tall for that corner. It will look completely out of place in our neighborhood.

Too much traffic already without adding more. Bad idea.

TOTAL MESS. The roads around there are not built for this kind of density. Think about the kids walking to school.
