As Christians, Muslims and all other people of good will: We are deeply troubled by the serious abuses and injustices being perpetrated against our Muslim neighbors living peaceably among us through unlawful detainment, coercion, torture and the restriction of their freedom to move about unhindered. We cannot in good conscience look the other way and we will not stand idly by when our neighbors are unfairly targeted, abused and deprived of rights on account of race, religion or associations. We recognize that it is "we the people" who must always be the guardians of our Constitution's purpose "to establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility, to promote the general welfare and to secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity." We call upon the government of the United States to cease and to desist from the targeting, surveillance, detainment, imprisonment and restricting the freedom and movement of any person without just cause and due process. We commit ourselves to stand with our Muslim neighbors in this time of need and to work for accountability, equal justice and the preservation of our Constitutional rights. We sign our names to this declaration as an act of solidarity and call upon all people of good will to join us and add their signatures to this declaration.

This is just wrong. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity regardless of what they believe in. We are better than this.

Fairness for all is the foundation of this country. Glad to see people speaking up because these abuses have to stop now.
