As a biologist who has worked extensively with gar, I think the efforts of TPWD are a great step in the right direction for these awesome fish. Reducing overharvest benefits not only the fish, but anyone interested in continuing to pursue these animals as a sport fish.

Alligator gar are worthy of respect and conservation. They are trophy fish that should have strict harvest regulations in place to protect them from exploitation so future generations may enjoy fishing for these feisty dinosaurs.

it is not a good idea to harvest so much of this fish that has been in the world for millions of years when studies show that it simply can't cope with over harvesting. That would ben another example of how stupid men uses its natural resources.

I’m not a gar fan at all. I personally do not care for them one bit but our resources need to be protected at all cost!

I would've thought they'd learned from the first time they almost wiped out these living dinosaurs, just because they look scary doesn't make them a threat or impervious to our stupidity.
