At many universities, including North Carolina State University, sexual assault cases are handled by a panel of students and faculty and many of these panel members are unaware of the effects of sexual assault on victims. During these proceedings, sexual assault victims are humiliated and treated as though it is their fault that they were sexually assaulted. Also, many offenders receive inadequate consequences for their actions and are allowed to not only remain at their university, but can also still attend classes and interact with their victims.

At STANDXNCSU we aim to change these policies. We demand that North Carolina State University:

Take sexual assault cases to law enforcement agencies that are not associated with the university.

Not use students and faculty on panels that hear sexual assault cases.

Create panels whose members are well-versed in the effects of sexual assault and will treat victims with respect.

Create new policies that do not allow an offender to associate with their victim in classes or other university activities until the alleged attacker has been found not guilty by the court system.
