This bill should be enacted. It allows the hard working independent retailers, who have leveraged their lives to improve an industry that has created great revenue for the state, to exit with some of the value they have made over the years. In lieu of giving the greedy out-of-state corporations an undeserved gift on the backs of hard working Coloradoans by potentially losing a ballot issue, this bill should be signed. The alternative is devastation of many lives who will lose everything they've ever worked for, their employees and many ancillary products and services. I have personally seen what it has done to other states. Despite the propaganda, it will not make life more convenient. When you stand in '8 or less' lane for 20 minutes, your 6-pack of beer getting warmer by the minute, remember the convenience factor. Prices won't go down. Wholesalers have exclusive territories and dictate pricing for their territory. A retailer can't go shopping for an item's best price, he must price based on the deal level he buys, and the chains will get no better pricing than most liquor stores receive. Selection will be reduced. Craft beer will suffer. New products will be nearly impossible to gain distribution through the chains. Please sign the bill so Colorado can stave off the destruction of what may be one of the best off-premise systems in the country due to nothing more than corporate greed.

Dear Governor,
I am an owner of a small liquor store. This is our only livelihood. The threat from the BIG box grocery chains are too serious for our survival.
I sincerely request you to sign the bill SBA 197 into a law and please abort the ballot measure.
Thanks,
Sanjib Bhowmick

Governor Hickenlooper, Please sign Bill SB 197! This bill is good for CO retailers and will keep Local liquor stores in business...it will also preserve the jobs of those employed by these stores and will keep the revenue here in CO. We are counting on you to protect us from these Big Box Supermarkets that have no problem putting us out of business!!
Thank you in advance!

As part owner of a liquor store I believe our market would be seriously eroded very quickly if this measure is vetoed. We should not be penalized for living under the regulations that have kept us from having more economic power. This has never been a free market. A gradual change is both morally and economically sensible.

If you are indeed for the little guy - please sign 197. Otherwise, you are sending a very strong message that ultimately supports large out of state corporations over long time Colorado businesses and families that have been contributing to our state for decades, and have been abiding within the confines of our liquor laws which have cultivated the premier craft brew industry in the nation.
