I stand in opposition to the attacks on public education that were passed by the North Carolina General Assembly and signed by Governor Pat McCrory. North Carolina ranks 48th of 50 states in per student spending on education, falling more than $2,600 below the national average. I do not believe that North Carolina’s children are below average. It is wrong for the Governor and General Assembly to treat them that way.
By signing below, I petition my elected leaders to treat our children with the dignity and respect they deserve by:
Raising North Carolina’s per-student expenditure to above the national average;
Hiring more teachers to reduce class size;
Restoring teacher assistant positions to grades K-3.
