Big fan of the Seattle Seahawks--my team since 1976. Very disappointed in Pete Carol, Paul Allen, the players, the other 31 teams, and Commissioner Roger Goodell. Pete Rozelle would have never stood for this, nor would some of the greatest coaches; Tom Landry, Vince Lombardi, Joe Gibbs and many others. Not coming out on the field for the National Anthem is just as disrespectful as not standing at attention and rendering the proper salute--whether hand over heart or military salute for veterans (that includes those who are NFL players, coaches, or owners who are veterans). The Game Operations Manual, though it does not say players and coaches MUST stand (very poor choice of words), it does say that all coaches and players must appear on the field or sideline for the Anthem. Again, sadly, it does only recommend they stand. You've all lost my respect. I do not have a problem sitting down and discussing legitimate grievances. However, I would not sit down with anyone who will not respect the flag of the country that gave them the opportunities they have. Your display is disgusting and a disgrace. The players and coaches are employees and like all employees, have rules set forth by their employer that they are to follow, or suffer the consequences, like any employee of any other company not abiding by their company’s rules. Until things change I will not watch any more NFL and encourage others to do the same.

The National Anthem represents all of America.
If members of National Football League, NFL, cannot stand for the National Anthem, Drop the word "National" from NFL as those players taking a knee do not represent this great nation!

I think it is absolutely a shame that the NFL would permit this to go on, As a Viat Nam vet I did not think that I would ever see this happen in this country. God Bless the USA!

No more than I can waggle my political opinion at work should the NFL allow players to use the field as their voice. Pick an appropriate venue for your political opinions and leave football out of it.

My father was in the 29th division in the army. he was at Normandy beach on Omaha in that very fist wave, need I say more . We lost a lot of souls in just one day there. I often think what my father and the rest of best of the best soldiers think about this not standing for our
to me the Anthem represents pride in our wonderful country. To me it is a symbol of what the USA stands for. FREEDOM PROTECTION THE RIGHT TO PURSUE WHATEVER YOU WISH TO DO IT IS AMERICA HOME OF THE BRAVE AND ITS MY COUNTRY OF WHICH I AM SO VERY PROUD THERE SHOULD BE NO QUESTION ABOUT STANDING. My son and grandson fought for freedom in United States Marine Corp! As our Anthem is being played,watch the tears fall from your eyes,praying they will get home safe! As the jets fly over,God is watching over us, given us freedom to be able to play any sport!!!
